Should you leave your job without something lined up?
I speak to hundreds of people in a year (maybe thousands)?
And if there’s one common thread across all conversations, it’s that people are dissatisfied with their current jobs.?
Here’s what I hear the most:?
? Managers micromanaging or unfairly evaluating your performance.?
? Being spoken down to (ageism and sexism) and then HR turning a blind eye to bad behavior?
? Being disrespected, unfairly targeted, or completely overlooked despite doing great work?
? Burning out because you’re expected to do so much
People are doing more and more but not seeing the benefit of it.?
It’s easy to get trapped in a cycle of doing so much work that you’re unable to create space to find a new job.?
You’re so unhappy where you are that it feels impossible to start making moves somewhere else.?
You want to quit your job on the spot, but then talk yourself out of it because it doesn’t seem like a smart idea.
So then you stay where you’re at and keep trying to make little changes here and there.?
But this doesn’t work because there’s truly no way for you to change the culture of your organization. You’re not ACTUALLY in a position to change how things are going.?
And you’re also so over it at this point that every ounce of effort you put in takes more and more out of you.?
So you end up staying at your current job, getting increasingly negative feedback, asking yourself how much longer you can continue to fake it.?
This is the EXACT moment when you should consider quitting your job with nothing else lined up.?
I’m not saying you HAVE to. I’m saying you might want to consider it – especially if you have a lot of good professional experience under your belt and a little bit of a financial cushion.?
Quitting your job with nothing lined up can be one of the biggest breakthroughs of a person’s life.?
It is a true feeling of liberation.?
It’s a feeling of trusting yourself so much more than you thought you could.?
It’s the foundation for a massive leveling up.?
When you quit with nothing lined up, you’re basically saying to yourself and the world:?
?? “I know I’ve got my own back.”
?? “I know what I’m worth.”?
?? “I’m willing to bet on myself.?
?? “I’m NOT willing to tolerate being treated poorly anymore.”?
When you approach quitting with this mindset, it turns your choice into jet fuel.?
It propels you forward.?
When you look at all of the truly most successful people in the world (especially the happy ones), this is how they operate.?

They are not playing by other people’s rules.?
They’re playing by their own rules.?
I’m not saying it’s easy or that you should bet your future on magical thinking.?
It’s the opposite. I’m suggesting that you practice cultivating the skill of playing by your own rules so that you can become an expert at creating better and better opportunities in your own life.?
When you do this, it will make it possible to switch careers or get a promotion.?
You’ll start thinking beyond what makes obvious sense.?
You’ll see opportunities where you once didn’t.?
This usually leads to more money, more respect, more freedom, and more fulfillment.?
This is what I work with my clients to do in Clarity in the Fast Lane.?
This week a former client told me that she was on track to make $325,000 in revenue this year in her business. 18 months ago she was working for a nonprofit as a full time employee making a third of that.?
This week I had another client land his contract role as an independent consultant. He quit his job in April, opened his own consultancy, and now has work coming in the door.?
I also had another client negotiate 3 months of severance pay to leave a job she hates.?
All of these people quit with nothing lined up.?
They decided to bet on themselves.?
And because of that, they got unexpectedly great results.?
If they can do it, you can too.?
If you’re doubting yourself, that’s normal.?
Reach out and I’d be happy to chat, free of charge.??
Who knows what we might come up with.
