Can’t agree on what direction your partnership is going in? Find yourselves arguing over all the small things?
Going to couples therapy to solve these issues has been all the rage in Silicon Valley for years but the number of people seeking help is on the rise. No, I’m not talking about therapy with your romantic partner but your business partner. The pandemic has heightened tensions and brought on added stress to co-founders, leading many to sort out their disagreements on a therapist’s couch.
I know, I know. It feels like something out of an episode of the Silicon Valley sitcom, not an actual solution. But business owners and other experts continually caution would-be entrepreneurs to be careful of who they choose to go into business with. Much like how your romantic partner will impact the trajectory of your personal life, so too will your co-founder impact your business and success.
What do you think of this idea? Have you tried therapy to sort out your differences with your co-founders or important business partners? What else has worked for you?

With the delta variant extending the length of the lingering pandemic combined with more professionals from all walks of life beginning entrepreneurial careers, a traditional brick-and-mortar or virtual chat session on the comfy couch about the “birds and digital bees” could be a text message a relationship therapist would send to bickering business partners “learning the ropes” of business ownership for the first time in a competitive digital marketplace. #smallbusinessmarketing #entrepreneurmind

As a Black business owner, I believe the research aligns with the experiences of African Americans. I started my business, not by choice, but because I had no feasible employment opportunities for almost a year. We (people of color) create our businesses as a way to create a job for ourselves when other doors are closed to us.

3 年Jordyn Dahl Interesting idea, but seems very limited in many ways. What I'd suggest are CEO executive groups instead. That way the group mind filters out some of the emotional confusion partners have.
