As you begin to consider your goals and what you intend to accomplish in 2023, you will also be considering what action steps you will need to take to achieve your goals.?

Is one of those action steps taking a close look at your daily habits and monitoring them on a very regular basis??

Are your daily habits setting you up to maximize your opportunities or are they holding you back???

John Wooden is still the most successful college basketball coach in history. Beginning in 1964, his UCLA teams won 10 National Championships over a 12-year period. He had many of the greatest college basketball players on those teams. And yet every year, on the first day of practice the first thing he taught those players to do was how to properly put on their socks and how to properly tie their basketball shoes. Coach Wooden knew how important that most basic habit was to achieve the team's goals for that season.??

Often enough, it’s the little things we do every day out of habit that set the stage for what comes next.??

Our daily habits are the foundation for the action steps for whatever outcomes we accomplish. They could not be more important. Not just our work habits but all of the habitual things we do from waking up in the morning until we go to sleep at night. All of those habits combine to form that foundation.?

Let’s face it-we are all very busy. We are resistant to change. We think almost the exact same thoughts and generally do pretty much the same things every day. We’ve developed ingrained habits of doing and thinking that aren’t going to change on their own.??

We are so close to ourselves we can’t actually see what it is we are doing and how we could be doing it better. That’s why every professional athlete has a coach helping them to improve that athlete's daily habits.?

How can you objectively look at your habits and determine if they are helping you or getting in the way? Should you identify some habits that you would like to either eliminate or to incorporate into your already busy life, how could you actually do that? What habits might not even occur to you??

Because of your busy life and deeply ingrained habits, you may have some ideas of habits you’d like to eliminate and others you’d like to make part of your daily routine. How will you do that and stick with it long enough that those new actions actually become new habits??
