The advent of new technology or new business model brims the disruption of the other. This is an inevitable event. When a new technology or new business model is created, it brings about the disruption of jobs and the creation of new jobs. Those who cry out against the advent of new technology are those who are not prepared for this radical change and the ones who are happy are the ones that are ready for the introduction of new technology.
For example, the advent of Uber and Bolt has seen many in the taxi business complain about this business model. The question about new technology remains; should we embrace this new technology? Or should we fight it and continue the normal way of doing things?
The answer is always to accept this change and not fight it because it is inevitable. The destruction of jobs by new technology or business models also breeds new jobs. What we must do is simple, which is to adapt. ??????
These challenges are also prevalent in the agriculture sector with the advent of new technology like Blockchain, precision farming, and IOT comes to the disruption of jobs but also breeds the introduction of new jobs. Fighting it is like punching the wall. There is no winning against the wall except you are superman.
But the question is can we embrace change if one is not prepared for this change?
One of the ways to do that is to update the educational curriculum to meet today’s standards. The issue that the educational system face today is that it is not updated to meet today’s standard, especially in a third-world country. For example, in West Africa, typewriting is done in WAEC. This is why a student can graduate as a computer scientist and still be unable to design, develop and analyze the software and hardware used to solve problems in?business, scientific, and social contexts.
Education is the key that unlocks the golden door to freedom- George Washington Craver.
Another way is through online courses. Well, this helps people who don’t have the luxury to wait for the school system to get it right, there are various ways to improve your learning and get updated on the new things that happen in this world. Thanks to the information age we are in. Information is no longer hidden and only belongs to the elites. Information is now accessible. You can get information from websites like YouTube, Coursera, skill share, and mentors…..

Another way to adapt to this change is by training workers. When an agriculture company wants to introduce new technology into the company, training can be done to develop the worker’s skills instead of laying them off.
Conclusion
The advent of new technology should be embraced because it increases productivity and saves time and money in the long run. If we must fight against poverty, we must embrace new technologies.?

2 年Good question! as long as there is a need and a use case to adopt a specific technology then we should take the plunge and be innovative. There is a risk of failure in all tech and innovation, in that case it reinforces the skeptics opinions and fears to invest. We should be encouraged to publish and talk about the failures as well as the successes.
