“This should be taught in schools!â€
^^^ You, and everyone else, the first time you experience using a memory palace. (If you haven't had the pleasure, then see the bottom of this article for your first free memory palace experience!)
Whenever you experience the delight of using a memory palace for the first time as an adult, demonstrating to yourself your own previously hidden super-power, it's like you have seen through the matrix.
The proclamation is often the same - “This should be taught in schools!â€
Yep. It should. Sometimes memory techniques are taught in schools.
I know. I was first taught the basic principles at school, and have since taught them in many schools (colleges, universities, MBA schools) around the world - but they are only ever taught as a bolt on sideshow.
And anyway, why?
Why, dear newly enlightened learner, do you not now consume (or at least store) all of your learning through the medium of memory palaces, replete with fantastic, memorable imagery??
Quite simply, because we’re lazy.
Yes, memory palaces are incredibly powerful but like most people, (if you have experienced using memory palaces), you were quite possibly spoon-fed your first one. Building your own takes time and effort.
Why are memory palaces not in mainstream use?

Currently, the use of memory palaces is in the domain of the innovator, the visionary misfit.
I believe that for memory palaces to finally cross the proverbial chasm of adoption into the mainstream psyche, information needs to actually be delivered in memory palace format.
Simply telling you about memory palaces, or showing you one, won’t cut it.
Consider, by way of analogy, an old format of learning information; the textbook.
How we currently teach memory palaces is analogous to showing a group of students one single textbook, showing how much juicy content there is inside. Then proclaiming, “Yeah, textbooks are great. Everyone in school should have them!†as you drop mic, walk away, leaving behind a stack of empty textbooks.
"Learning", how it had been intended, would not occur. So it is with the teaching of memory palaces.
Just think, you never chose the format of your textbooks. Information was simply presented to you in that format and you consumed it.
It’s now time for a new, more intelligent way of presenting information. Through memory palaces.
Anyway, if you'd like a taste of elevated thinking, and see how investors, venture builders and executives are adopting these accelerated learning techniques for important cognitive models for improving their decision-making capability then I’d ask you to comment “Yes†beneath this article, so that this valuable message will spread.

6 å¹´'Memory Palaces' can be naturally created by allowing space in younger years for children to fully immerse in surroundings.naturally they will associate colours, fill with images, be part of experiments & outcome. As we know, these innate observations serve far longer than taught or imposed facts. What you do is important, when mainstream neglects the balance of human nature with logic or career orientated lesson structure.? I do hope, however, more people can prioritize the gift of 'life learning' to our young. Thankyou for the links.
