One of the challenges in undertaking pure Executive Search assignments, is the requirement to genuinely seek out top talent for senior roles in the Automotive Industry for the specific roles we are briefed on. Once courted and involved in initial discussions, there is always the concern that the preferred candidate will be counter offered by their current employer. Additionally, long notice periods allow candidates to re-consider and re-negotiate salary and benefits packages.
So, whilst considering a career move really benchmark the reasons for wanting to move on, against those reasons for staying. We have inevitably found that the short term "feel good" factors of increased salary and potential future promotion, often given in deciding to stay with your current employer, may not outweigh the longer term cultural and career "stretch" opportunities a new role brings.
