Should I Jump?
Louis Katz
I help military and first responder families live large, be bold, have faith, and fear nothing through the insane curative power of laughter, song, and stories of everyday courage.
Imagine you’re up at 10,000 feet, the plane’s engines roaring in your ears, the hatch wide open as the wind rushes in. Below, the world looks small—fields, rivers, roads stretching like veins through the landscape. But up here, the vastness is palpable. You glance over at the US Army Parachute Team, the Golden Knights, seasoned paratroopers who have jumped thousands of times, with a calm that comes from facing fear head-on. I’ve been with them, on the ground and in the air, capturing their courage through my lens, feeling that rush of adrenaline as they leap from the plane. And yet, every time, I stayed safely in my seat. I haven’t jumped. Not yet.
Throughout my keynotes, I talk about courage and its daily manifestations in the workplace and beyond. Skydiving plays a big role in this message. In front of my audiences, I’ve asked the question, "Have you jumped?" and time after time, hands shoot up. Everyone who has jumped says the same thing: "You should do it." There’s something about stepping out of that plane, pushing beyond the limits of fear, that’s transformative.
So, I’ve made a decision: it's time to take the plunge, but not just for myself. I’m inviting you to join me. I'm launching Leap to Courage, a group experience designed to push us beyond our comfort zones—literally and figuratively. Before the jump, we’ll meet in a local Starbucks or similar venue, where I’ll share actionable insights about everyday courage. Then, together, we’ll head to the skies. This isn’t just about skydiving; it’s about facing your fears, learning to trust yourself, and embracing the unknown.
Jump season is almost over, but I’m accepting reservations for Spring and Summer 2025. This gives us plenty of time to prepare—both mentally and emotionally. As part of the Leap to Courage experience, there will be a group Zoom call before and after the jump. In our first call, we’ll focus on one thing you’re currently facing that requires an abundance of courage. After the jump, we’ll debrief together, reflecting on how this bold act translates into the courage needed to tackle life’s daily challenges.
News Flash: My bravery buddy, Dena Patton Business Coach and Speaker , just informed me that Arizona is world famous for its skydiving. With that in mind, I’m exploring the possibility of a Leap to Courage winter workshop there! Stay tuned as I look into this exciting opportunity for those looking to embrace courage year-round.
Not ready to take the leap? That’s okay! You can still book me for a keynote, workshop, or one-on-one coaching. Whether we’re diving from 10,000 feet or building your courage step by step, let’s walk the walk together.
And for our business leaders, remember: these individual, everyday acts of courage are the building blocks to something greater—a more courageous company. It starts with a more courageous you. The more we embrace courage in our daily actions, the more it ripples out, shaping the culture of the entire organization. So, should I jump? Yes, and I invite you to leap with me.
Live Large. Be Bold. Have Faith. Fear Nothing.
