I am sorry that is not possible you are wasting your time.
That is not possible we have never done it that way before
Why don’t you just give up?
You are not good enough
How many of you reading this have heard the above and stopped what you were doing or felt the desire to complete something wain?
I have to be honest with you, I love and adore hearing the above, and it fuels my fire. Tell me I can’t do something and I will work to try to prove you wrong and make a success of all my aims.
As I was thinking about what to write I decided to draw down on a personal level, looking at what fuels me and what my key drivers are. While family, house, mortgage etc. are huge drivers pushing me to do as well as I can. I cannot escape from the fact that my ability to impact any role I have had has come from my core, my personal desire to improve and the ability to take on board challenges/alternative views but not let them define what I am doing.
I was keen to pen an article extolling the virtue of trusting your own judgement and belief systems, in life unfortunately there will be colleagues, customers and worryingly friends and family who may put you down, telling you to give up.
Why should you listen?
My view is you shouldn’t, always have faith in yourself and your judgment with the knowledge you are doing the right thing for you, your employer and key stakeholders.
As human’s many of use derive support and standing from pushing others down to ultimately make us feel better about ourselves and our lot in life.
If you take one thing from this article it is to have courage and be aware of situations that may lead you to question the course you are on. If your belief is pure and you are confident then you will move through this with renewed vigour and ultimately triumph.
Stay the course; you are doing the right things!
Thank you for reading.

7 年The first-year tutor on my degree course told me in no uncertain terms that I was too old to get a job at an agency and I'd have to go freelance. He also told me an illustration project I proposed was too complicated and I'd never pull it off. I proved him very wrong on both counts
