Should I be done with LinkedIn

I'm not one to normally express my opinions publicly... it's not so much that I am scared of differing opinions or that I am so single minded that I don't want to hear others views, but more that I am of a persuasion that life is to short (and generally I have less time than I've had (an important consideration for many)) and that my personal focus should be on creating positive experiences for myself and those close to me so that they have something to remember fondly long after I'm not of this life.... someone (unfortunately no longer with us) once said, "this is not a rehearsal"..... a short quip but one that has stuck with me (and something I have repeated to the point of annoyance to many) which has become a sort of mantra to me (I neither believe in the mystical nor spiritual so a slight contradiction!)...,..

I digress.... last year, I spent a couple of days at a business conference and listened to an insightful talk about LinkedIn as the platform to propel my business. I took some invaluable insights from the talk and whilst already an advocate of the platform, embraced the learnings and set out to work on a strategy for my business..... I looked to increase my network by actively connecting with more like minded individuals in my industry..... however..... more recently I I find myself questioning the real value of an increasing network....

My views are my own and based my experiences of my own network, they may be unique, but I think maybe not.....

Over recent months, and more specifically recent days, I have found myself questioning the validity of LinkedIn as a professional network..... What is LinkedIn and How can I use it https://www.dhirubhai.net/help/linkedin/answer/a548441

Many of the posts I see on a daily basis do not meet the criteria of LinkedIn's own definition... I embrace change and advocate progress, but believe strongly in principle (if you say you will do something, do it!)....

I'm discombobulated!

I am discouraged, even upset by many of the posts I now see on a regular basis, not that they do not have validity and many make important statements and provide a view on events in the world, but much of my dismay is the ensuing furore that such posts create..... I could wax lyrical....

I am contradicted, as the positive, fun and cheery posts I see (that also don't conform) are a pleasure, however, they bad is starting to outweigh the good....(but the good still don't conform).....

It is (if you want it to be) a terrible world, full of wars, political injustices (albeit I don't do politics), terror and horrible events....but it is also full of beauty, and positivity (I'm not going to go all cliché....) , regardless, these are emotions and sentiments for other platforms... I think....

I have some questions.....

......Why does LinkedIn not seemingly moderate the platform to ensure that the content conforms to it's purpose?

.......Why do users not respect the purpose and moderate their own posts?

I'm not questioning the language or sentiments I see in replies to peoples posts, whilst many are deplorable, this isn't the point, how did such posts find there way to a professional network in the first place.. when did we say that this was acceptable....

Another question....

Should LinkedIn screen it's members first... should they have to agree to the terms of use (maybe I did!) and if they don't conform, remove them.... this is not naivety, but the point.. if the platform has lost it's way.. should I be done with LinkedIn.....
