Should I Cancel The Event Or Move Forward?

I work with organizations & individuals to create better healthcare experiences.
Is anyone not stressing out at least a little bit about the coronavirus? It seems like there is constantly a new update on what we should or shouldn’t be doing. The last time I remember Americans being this tense was after 9/11.
Many members of the public are debating whether or not to attend events, including ones held by healthcare and senior living organizations. Since the Centers For Disease Control (CDC) has recommended that persons over age 60 and those with certain health conditions consider limiting attending large group events https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/specific-groups/high-risk-complications.html, there are legitimate concerns.
If you are in healthcare or senior living marketing and sales, it is a really tricky time for you too. Should you cancel your upcoming events or proceed as planned?
If you proceed with hosting your event, here are some tips to consider:
- When confirming your guests, remind them to please refrain from attending if they are feeling ill.
- Make sure the room is not over-crowded so people have plenty of space from one another.
- Encourage hand washing and use of hand sanitizer. Be sure hand washing stations are available along with hand sanitizer.
- Offer healthy refreshments. Check out a list of Dr. Oz's recommended immunity-boosting foods here: https://www.today.com/health/how-boost-your-immunity-dr-oz-shares-advice-coronavirus-spreads-t175593
