Shotcrete: Its Applications, Materials, and Benefits in Construction
As the name suggests, shotcrete is a high-performance concrete or a mortar that is fed through a hose and is projected at high speed onto the backing surface under pressure, with the help of a high-performance concrete gun.
During this spraying activity, the force is given off by the sprayer that causes the concrete to compact, which at that point will result in layers of concrete being structured up to the required thickness due to the compaction of the concrete. In order to construct curved surfaces of varying shapes and sizes, shotcrete has proven to be the best method.
Since shotcrete technology has been developed, tunnel linings and domes can be constructed much more easily. A wide variety of cementitious materials can be set using this widely recognized and utilized method.
An application of shotcrete is generally made to a gashed surface in order to protect it from disintegration, for example, when the surface is broken or deformed resulting in it being unsound for a number of reasons. It has been observed in recent years that shotcrete has become increasingly popular in the mining industry as it is used for underground help.
