Short Video Snippets Drive Interest

Why Video? I believe that you need to find your unique pathway to sharing information. Writing articles, posting blog posts are all key. So how do you stand out from the rest of the crowd?

When I created?Judy’s Business Blog, I wanted a place to showcase great business tips and content for the Small Business Women Entrepreneurs. I did not want any pop-ups, no email sign-ups, and no ads. Why you may ask? For me personally, when I am interested in an article, I click that link to read more, fully intending to enjoy reading the entire article. In my experience, 99% want your email address before you can read it.

Other sites have nothing but ad pop-ups that you have to wade through just to read the article. Very irritating, very disruptive, I immediately click off. Another pet peeve of mine is the “free” article or information that is being shared. Well, it isn’t free. Before accessing the article, you need to enter your name and email address. They don’t tell you this, they just assume you will do it.

I wonder if anyone ever thought to explain "in sharing the link" you will need to enter your email address before accessing the “free” article, or downloading the “free” document that it might instill a smidgeon of trust. It is very deceptive, attaching a condition to the “free” statement after you have clicked the link.

I am always looking for great tools to enhance my blog posts. Whether I write them myself, or I post an article from a guest writer, I want to showcase interest in the article. Enter?Lumen 5.?It is a great video tool. Please know, it doesn’t take the place of a videographer. It is a cool tool that the average person can use to showcase content.

“How To Be Your Own Marketing Department” is one of the short videos I edited on Lumen 5, to showcase the entire article on my blog. Lumen 5 highlights:

• Lumen 5 gives you your own portfolio link - that you can share with your public, but you cannot embed the video into your social media or website. Please note: you can share your Lumen 5 video to your social networks.?
• If you want to embed your Lumen 5 video to another platform, download your Lumen 5 video to your computer. You will now have an (mp4) formatted file. You can then upload your file to YouTube, Vimeo, or Wistia.
• To embed your video into your posts or website, just click embed/share from whichever platform you are using and the embed code will be displayed.?
• For WordPress websites, you can upload your (mp4) file directly.?
• The drawback to the YouTube video is the ending. This is part of their advertising, working at getting you interested in other like-minded videos. I could not find the feature to disable relational videos at the end of the YouTube video. I am working on figuring out how I can add a clickable link to the article directly from the video I created within Lumen5. That feature may not be available yet.?

The bottom line, be unique. Do one thing that is different from your competition. Find a way to stand out. Short Video Snippets Drive Interest!
