SHORT-TERM RESULT VS LONG-TERM GROWTH

SHORT-TERM RESULT VS LONG-TERM GROWTH

#Episode02

Thanks for following through on the episode. I hope you got value from the last episode.

In case you haven't seen it, kindly check my page.

Let's dive into Episode 2??

In the last episode, we asserted that:

WINNERS AND LOSERS HAVE THE SAME GOALS

Next:

????????-??????? ????????????? ???? ???????-??????? ??????????

The counterintuitive thing about improvement is that achieving a goal only changes your life for a moment. This is a very good strategy, but only for the short-term.

For instance, students who are only concerned about passing an exam (that's the goal) would go as far as "Cramming" for the exam, or "Cheating, whether in small or large gravity."

You get my point, nau ??

But when the knowledge of the last course is needed as a foundation for the next course at another level, they will find it difficult to utilize that knowledge, so they just succeeded in accumulating another big herculean task for themselves. You get the gist? Meaning, this time around, the energy needed for cramming would be even higher. ??♂?

I thank God that I tried my best not to go down this path. I chose SYSTEMS over GOALS, and it paid off!

I remember in my final year, my school was invited to a Chemical Engineering Regional Quiz, in which each university's representatives would be asked questions on 300 – 500 level topics.

Lo and behold, the first name that came to my course rep's head when assigned the responsibility of selecting a 500l member for the team, was ME.

Do you know why?

I had built a reputation over the years of "Reading to Learn and Teach" rather than "Reading to Pass," and I have a track record of teaching courses that most would have forgotten... like, imagine in your 500l, you had to without preparation teach younger colleagues in 400, 300, 200, and 100.

If I were to list all the personal benefits I have gotten from "Focusing on Systems," this post would be too lengthy. I also recall that, in my final year, I was teaching a P.G.D. chemical engineering student in Ireland who had no background in engineering. You know what that means... I literally had to explain even the 200l things I learned on the spot without preparation.

Let me not bore you!

  • We think we need to change our results, but the results are not the problem.
  • What we really need to change are the systems that cause those results.

  • When you solve problems at the result level, you only solve them temporarily.

In order to improve for the better, you need to solve problems at the system level.

FIX THE INPUTS and the OUTPUTS WILL FIX THEMSELVES!

I hope you got value from this post?

Bring in your questions, so I can answer them in the next episode.

Please don't forget to #likeandshare. That's what's going to motivate me to proceed.

I am available for speaking engagements in the areas of academics, excellence, capacity development, and renewable energy.
