One of greatest things about my job is that I can visit pioneering shows and events from time to time. I get to experience the industrial trends, but at the same time, I can meet interesting people, that are facing the same challenges as I do by planning events. During the @neonyt in Berlin, I had the chance to meet and to talk to Thimo Schwenzfeier, Show Director of Neonyt and the talk really inspired me. I asked him some questions and I would like to share the answers with all of you.
Who are you and what are your main tasks at this event?
My name is Thimo Schwenzfeier, I ‘m working for Messe Frankfurt since more than 6 years and I‘m the Show Director of Neonyt. That means I ‘m responsible for the whole trade show and its corresponding formats like the conferences or the showcases together with my team.
You get to see different trade shows and events. What would you consider being the biggest trend concerning trade shows?
Maybe my answer is expectable, but sustainability is really the key trend. No matter what industry. But I must add that? trend ‘is the wrong word as sustainability is a must and it won’t go away. It will change a lot. Business cases, supply chains, work processes. And it will change for good.
What do you think the future of trade shows will look like?
In the future, Trade Shows will be more and more curated. It’s more about the quality of the products, the innovation, the story and the impact. To attract people to come to a specific place for a specific time is demanding, but it’s still the most relevant way of doing business, of networking and of presenting products and services.
As you see trade shows will remain a very important platform for B2B business, but we will have to put some more salt and pepper and spice up them to reach our customers and to support brand awareness.
