A short poem
Jose Recio
I am blending my medical background and life experiences to practice creative writing.
In my previous posts and brief articles, I addressed the theme of traditional poetic forms and included a few examples. In contrast, the gradual introduction of free verse, which started about two centuries ago, broke up with classic metric forms, and poems began to take multiple shapes with and without rhyme in which mental images and associations, among other elements, became paramount.
I am pleased to offer an example below with a simple bilingual poem.
??????????????? ???????SIN RECATO
??????????? ?????????(By José L Recio)
?????????? Las gaviotas en el muelle,
?????????? Furibundas, arrebatan
?????????? A la ni?a mulata,
?????????? De entre su mano endeble,
?????????? Con esquivos picotazos,
?????????? Sin reparar en excesos,
?????????? De trocitos a pedazos,
?????????? Su pastelito de queso.
???????????????????? ??##
SHAMELESSLY
????????? The seagulls at the pier
????????? Furiously snatch
????????? From the tanned girl,
????????? From her flimsy hand,
????????? With elusive pecking,
????????? Disregarding the excess,
????????? Bit by bit, chunk by chunk,
????????? Her yummy cheesecake.
