A Short Dialogue with Ifeoma Nwobu on how Technology is Improving Gender Equality in today.

Ifeoma Nwobu is the COO of Sendstack, a mobility tech startup, in Lagos, Nigeria. Before transitioning into tech, she was a renowned model, gracing the runways of top designer brands such as Lanre Da Silva Ajayi, TI Nathan, and Lisa Folawiyo to mention a few.

We recently had the pleasure of speaking with Ifeoma Nwobu, who’s doing remarkable work in the supply chain industry, to discuss the impact of technology on gender equality in her industry.

Q: In what ways do you think technology has improved gender equality in your industry?

A: Technology has had a positive impact on the world and has made it significantly easier to access numerous opportunities. Specifically, regarding gender equality, I believe that technology has increased access to resources for women and young girls ultimately making it easier for us to break into our desired sectors. Women now have increased access to global opportunities, mentorship programs & funding which I believe are the necessary resources required to excel in any field.

Regarding the supply chain industry, technology definitely Makes it easier to scale businesses that were fundamentally built through super traditional means. For example, at Sendstack , over 70% of our operators are women who started their delivery businesses a few years ago due to the rise of e-commerce. Technology now makes it possible for them to scale this business which normally would require a lot of manual work and I’m certain that the relationship between technology & scalability applies across other industries.

The ripple effect of technology is seen in verticals like e-commerce, finance, and health and we see women championing solutions in these spaces. It’s a no-brainer that technology has exposed us to a whole new world of resources, information, and communities that help us as women to grow personally and professionally.

Ifeoma's insights shed light on the positive impact of technology on gender equality, particularly in industries that have been traditionally male-dominated. With technology breaking down barriers and providing more opportunities for women, we can expect to see greater gender diversity and inclusivity in the logistics industry and beyond.
