Our Personal Journey's in life should never stop; we should always be in pursuit of our love.. our true treasure.
I just completed the book "The Alchemist" and what a great reminder to never stop going after what you want most in life. The book follows a boy on his journey to find his treasure, and because he took the leap of faith, he gained so much more.
The book is really about a boy on his journey or "personal legend" to find his treasure. Because he overcame the fear of doing nothing, his life's journey lead him to become much more enriched than it was just sitting in his day to day - status quo
Along the way, the boy meets several influential figures that shape, mold, and develop the boy's young mind to be able to reach his true passion.
The lesson of the story is there are people that follow their dreams, beliefs, and passions, and there are those that wish they were following their dreams, beliefs, and passions. I won't give way the farm, but the story ends with a dramatic twist, that leaves the reader smiling!
Here are my favorite quotes from the book, that really summarize the lessons outlined in this amazing journey!
- When we strive to become better than we are, everything around us becomes better too
- We are all made by the same hand, and we have the same soul (lesson here..even the giants in the world came from the same hand)
- Most people see the world as a threatening place and because they do, the world turns out in deed to be a threatening place
- Everyone seems to have a clear idea on how other people should lead their lives but none about his or her own
And my favorite...
- You have to choose between thinking of yourself as the poor victim of a thief and start thinking of yourself as an adventurer in quest of your treasure.....
Happy Hunting!
