Shopping Survey Results: Impact of Cost of living, Healthy Eating and HFSS

We have just done a survey looking at how the?cost-of-living crisis?is affecting shoppers wanting to?eat healthily?and how?HFSS regulations?are likely to change how people shop.?

We captured?feedback from 1,000 family shoppers in 24 hours and we'd like to share the headlines:

  • In the last 3 months, the majority of shoppers claimed their weekly basket was costing more across all main grocery categories
  • And despite the cost increases most (63%) still try and "eat healthily"?
  • Over half were aware of a government initiative (HFSS) to help them eat less high fat, high salt and high sugar foods and viewed it in a positive light
  • If there were only healthy options at till points?83%?felt it would be okay and stop them from buying unhealthy options
  • Whilst?36%?would buy the healthier option at till point, only?23%?would go and find them elsewhere in the store
  • If promotions on unhealthy options stopped,?48%?said it would make them think twice about buying unhealthy choices
  • And the majority agreed that promotions on healthier options would encourage them to try new products?

So it looks like Shoppers will respond positively to changes in store layout and products on promotion in response to HFSS, but how Shoppers behave IN-STORE.?

?We'd like to share the full story and tell you about our HFSS ‘F.I.T’ IN-STORE REALTIME SHOPPER MODEL, specifically designed to help you understand and track the impact of HFSS initiatives and changes in store and how they affect shopper behaviour.
