The past 100 years have been a time of great change, some positive, some negative, and unfortunately some rather misleading. Products, business models, and moral principles however, have all taken an alarming turn for the worse. This shift in the market, is fueled by a money hungry trend that is the backbone of modern day business methodology. With big box stores, and mega corporations taking a strangle hold of the consumer market, long gone are the days when saving up to purchase that new product meant years of enjoyment and value from a hard earned dollar. A time when every dollar earned, heck every cent earned, held true value, purpose, and meaning.  No greater joy would come from seeing the fruits of one's labour come into actualization. Whether it was a new vacuum, or a second commuter vehicle for the family, the products of the past were built to last, and last, they most certainly did! From big items to small, companies embraced product quality & longevity vs. convenience & a quick buck. Small businesses thrived boasting personalized service and a product of Actual Value; finding fulfillment in doing right by the consumer.  Knowing by taking care of said consumer would lead to a lifelong pairing of loyalty. So why is it that we find ourselves today, drowning in a consumer market of throw away trinkets sure to disappoint. Longevity? Heck half of these trinkets don't work right from the time you unpack them from their fancy packaging. The modern day consumer shops for price & convenience, but do we not also expect quality? Absolutely we do, but in a time where big corporations rule, ensuring quality has become an extinct principle of the past. 

The time is now to take back the consumer market, and put value back into a buck. But How? The change starts at the bottom with the consumer. We as fellow consumers must first change the ways in which we shop. Support local Shoppe's! Sure the product may appear to cost more, perhaps online sales are not even an option, but when you support your local shops there is always a person to hold accountable should there be an issue with your purchase. Many small businesses embrace a healthy "consumer + quality of product" focused approach to both operating and growing their businesses. Accountability, quality and connection being the focal points. Where having your namesake associated with your product means you are producing something of value to bring ACTUAL VALUE to your consumers life!  

Don't think in the short run but shop for the long haul! If you calculate the dollars spent replacing your mass produced trinkets of crap, you will soon find you have spent more than you would have, if instead you shopped for quality & connection VS. price & convenience.
