BE IN THEIR SHOES

2020 is not only the year of one pandemic but series of multiple pandemics for many. Each of us has gone through some or other surprises in our personal and professional life i.e. sickness, job lose, lock-down, salary cut, bad economy and many more. We never thought in our life that small virus can completely shut entire world and our wisdom will be locked without any key.
Now a days I am spending lots of time reading on various sites and specially half of the time goes on LinkedIn as I am also not spared by pandemic effect. In my 18 years of Human Resources career I never imagined of such a situation, where person who made people redundant, will be also made redundant one day. How you feel when you be in the shoes of person who lost something in this pandemic.
I have read various post with empathy, sympathy, and generosity by various leaders in their capacity. Few are feeling happy that they are not being affected due to current situation, but many feels halfhearted and depressed because they are affected. If anyone ask me than what is the solution or move forward way to deal this situation. I would say there is no 100% solution to current situation, however I have few recommendations, which I believe each of us should think and rethink.
Stay Positive
How can I be positive when I lost my job or something major happened in my life? It is difficult to say then feel when you are in that position. I am in the same situation, but I made positivity as my first choice and second one is to continue live with that mindset. Staying Positive does not mean that you keep your head in the sand and ignore life's less pleasant situations. It just means that you approach unpleasantness in a more positive and productive way. You think the best is going to happen, not the worst. Remember law of attraction, what you think it happens, positive thinking bring positive news.
Think out of Box
During lock-down 20% to 30% of population have worked from home, however majority (70%) of us hardly had any work to do other than watching Netflix or surfing internet. This made me think a lot what if this situation continues? what if I lose job? what alternative do I have? Am I ready to think out of BOX (job)? One should always start thinking on alternative to job as a back-up or another source of income. Many of us has some or other skill, which can help us to think out of the BOX.
Be in Their Shoes
It was hard to believe on the day I lost my job because I never been in the shoes of employee, who lost their job in past and I was the messenger of that news to them. We all are emotional, so it is natural to be sad, when you hear such a news. However, when you be in their shoes you realize the pain and it is via versa. I know it is equally painful to few organizations to let their loyal employee goes. Have we ever asked this question to yourself? How organization feels when you resign and leave them? it does not matter as its none of my business. See the world from other side of ocean.
World is not ending
When you lose the job that does not mean it is end game. It means it is time to explore new opportunity, it means time has come to accept the reality of the situation and move on. Yes, we need to sit and analysis our strength and opportunities and sharpen our skills, explore our core, and give more push to look outside the box. Outside world will never end unless you end your inner world. So, keep faith and work for new beginning
What if Another Pandemic
What if you encounter another pandemic? What is your readiness? I think last 3-4 months has given us enough opportunity to see life differently. We need to think about real meaning of life and our perspective towards it. During lock-down money has helped me to survive but it was feeling of Jail. I could enjoy my favorite series for few weeks, but I did not realize it was at the cost of my freedom. Many of us had so much of fear that what if I will be affected due to this deadly virus and would not be able to complete my dreams? Its eye opener to live our dream on daily basis and enjoy life every moment. Humankind is busy to bring next pandemic anytime.
This reminds me nice quote. “Never stop trying, never stop believing, never give up. Your day will come”.
