A Shocking Way to Get More Done

A Shocking Way to Get More Done

Another day, and so much to get done.

How do you get more done and support yourself for success?

It is just one simple step – ready?

Use positive self-talk; encourage yourself to get more done.

What you say to yourself – your “self-talk”- creates a positive or negative feeling.

You take action based upon that “this is working” or “this is not working” feeling.

Make your self-talk encouraging.

How about, “You are doing so well! Now on to the next project.”

Notice how good it feels to encourage yourself and how infrequently it might happen.

That’s okay.

You are a creature of habit – your self-talk may be critical. You can change that.

First, decide on your top 3 tasks.

Then, set a time deadline for each task.

Finally, stop after you complete the task and say, “You are doing so well,” and mean it.

Decide today that after each accomplishment you will do 2 things:

  1. Cross it off your list – your brain will send you a positive hormonal “kick” for finishing it.
  2. Say something kind to yourself. “Well done!” will do. “You are awesome!” is better.

Science tells us these 2 steps - completing a task and recognizing results – improves your work. How? The recognition - reinforcing the “get it done” behavior creates a new habit for success.

Remind yourself today that your work matters – you are making a positive contribution.

Keep your focus on all the good that you do through your work.

Then support yourself for success with a positive statement.

“You are doing so well” will do. “You are awesome!” is better.

Positive self-talk is a shocking way to get more done.
