A Shocking Result in Lexington - Evansville defeats Kentucky 67-64
Kentucky's reign as the #1 team in the Country didn't last long. The Wildcats were shocked by Evansville at Rupp Arena last night 67-64. Evansville Head Coach Walter McCarty who played for Kentucky from 1993-1996 knew what it would take to pull off the monumental upset and his team came through. Could this be the year a mid-major wins the National Championship? Maybe, maybe not. The gap is lessening between the nation's top teams and the mid-majors as shown in recent years by this game and the UMBC victory over Virginia in the 2018 NCAA Tournament. Mid-majors such as George Mason, Butler, Loyola Chicago, and VCU have made the Final Four and many have advanced to the Sweet Sixteen. It will be interesting to see as the season progresses how many more major upsets we will have. I predict that there will be at least one mid-major in the 2020 Final Four in Atlanta. The questions are who will that team be and will they be able to win two games in three days on College Basketball's biggest stage? I am looking forward to finding out.

5 年What a game. I'm sorry I didn't watch, but like everyone else, I thought Kentucky would win easily. It's going to be a great season.

5 年And to think, ESPN.com said to get used to Kentucky being in the top spot with no real challenging games on their slate for about a month.
