An interesting report has just been published on the severity of UAS collisions with manned aircraft. I was particularly drawn to the sentence in the associated comment that says "I'm more concerned with hitting other actual airplanes than I am birds or even drones. No pilot wants to hit anything in the air, but a drone is no where near the top of my worry list....." Do we agree?

7 年Yes, I entirely agree Colin. I’m a rotary person myself and I couldn't see how his logic stacks up. Never the less it's an interesting article in its own right.

7 年The pilot who made that comment may be a pilot with 1300 hours, but he is also the CP of a drone company and for obvious commercial reasons, will down play the risk of a drone collision. I didn't read his full CV, but if he is a plane pilot as opposed to a heli pilot, he would not spend much time at the lower levels where the risk of a drone strike (or a bird strike for that matter) is more likely to happen.
