City Manager RTRs & Job Board (8/11/2024)

In California, the super affluent enclave of Hidden Hills thought it had found its leader in Claire Whitley, a Florida transplant.

Home to one or more of the Kardashians and across the freeway from Calabasas, the cheapest home for sale is currently listed at just $5,000,000.

Whitely started on July 22nd and shockingly announced her resignation just three days later on July 24th to tend to unforseen family matters.

She was hired in at a salary of $240,000.

In Mebane, North Carolina, the search for the next city manager is starting over from scratch.

It appears that the governing body did not like the final crop of candidates and the recruiter suggested that many candidates believed an internal candidate was likely to secure the nod.

Developmental Associates is handling the recruitment so be on the look out for this listing to get re-floated soon.

Southwest United States AAME Barnstorming Tour

Last week (Sunday thru Wednesday), I drove more than 2,000 miles from Wichita to Dallas and out to Los Angeles to visit with founding members of the American Association of Municipal Executives .

In Texas, I stopped in Dallas, Waco, Abilene, and Midland.

In New Mexico, I stopped in Hobbs and Ruidoso.

In Arizona, I stopped in Maricopa, Glendale, and Buckeye.

And finally, I made a stop in Twentynine Palms, California, a proud military community in San Bernardino County.

All told, I met with thirteen founding members and you can find reports about these visits on my LinkedIn page.

It is my plan to travel across the country in the coming months to meet up with members of the AAME.
