Shithole Countries

Shithole Countries

It is because I love my country that I want her to be just. I am a veteran. I vote. I serve on juries. I try to be a good citizen.

I'm asking readers to share this in hopes that we can start something on LinkedIn. I'm not sure what--maybe a general strike or something similar.

Today Donald Trump crossed a line. We always knew he was a racist--America knew what it was getting. What he has said in the past about Mexicans and others was horrible, but as a staunch Democrat the most I usually said was, 'See? This is what 'they' voted for.'

Labeling Haiti and Africa as 'shithole countries' crosses the line for me. Saying we should get more immigrants from Norway just made his racism crystal clear, a statement for 'the avoidance of doubt.' So let's look at 'shithole countries.' The picture atop this article is of a monument in Savannah Georgia to Haitian soldiers who came to America to help us in our revolution against the British.

Let's start with a country with declining life expectancy, mostly due to mass consumption of narcotics. That's not some narko kleptocracy in Central America. That's the USA, where 63,632 people died last year from drug overdoses, more deaths in one year than we lost in the entire Vietnam war.

Let's talk about a country that passes legislation that favors the very richest at the expense of the poor. That's not Mugabe's Zimbabwe--that's the United States of America.

Let's talk about a country where the stated policy of the party of the rich is to cut the programs that benefit the poor. That's not Tajikstan. That's us, as in US.

Let's talk about a country that leaves more than a million people without electricity months after a hurricane. That's not Haiti. That's the United States of America.

Our racist president wishes we could get more immigrants from Norway. They currently only send a few thousand souls a year to our shores. They're not even listed on most tables showing countries of origin for US immigrants.

Why is that? Maybe it's because it's the happiest country in the world. Their GDP per capita is higher than ours, $56,532 in Norway vs. $49,965 in the US. They have a life expectancy of 82 years, compared to 79 here. They have better health care and nobody is trying to take it away from them. Why on earth would they want to come to a country led by a racist buffoon?

While our president is trying to Make America White Again he's presiding over a campaign to earn for us the title he just bestowed on Haiti and Africa.

We are being led by a racist. He's ignorant. He sexually harasses women. He's pathetic.

I can no longer sit and watch while he trashes the country I love.

Donald Trump must go.

This article is absurd and its author suffers from "Orange Man Hate". The dull fact of the matter is that poor countries more often lack proper sewage systems and services for disposing of garbage not to mention proper public and private hygiene. So Donald Trump's terminology though lacking in diplomacy is appropriate when applied to countries like Haiti, Somalia and Vietnam.
