In today's email,
the children of my cousin's children,
surfaced, questioned me.

Am I the same one,
the name mentioned long ago,
searched out on the Net?

History's fragment,
an echo of a time past,
can they trace my voice?

Should we reconnect,
despite our independence,
family once again?

Shall we find our joy,
not just history's account,
but identity.

It is important
to have living memories,
not just dead archives.

Whether spam or real,
I must confess my heart leapt –
possibility!

Will unknown faces,
turn around time's attrition,
create a new "we"?
