Shipping from A to Z on the Gotthard pass
Yesterday we had a busy and productive day talking about Shipping and Trading at the annual CAS, Commodity Advanced Professional, run by the IFZ Institut für Finanzdienstleistungen Zug together with the Lugano Commodity Association (LCA) and the Zug Commodity Association (ZCA).
The venue was very special; inside the Museum of San Gotthard close to the summit of the Gotthard pass. Considering the historical importance of the pass and its economic benefits to not just Switzerland but Europe as a whole, it provided a good starting point for my lecture in analysing some of our local economic history here in Switzerland.
I hope I have managed to deliver the concept of voyage freight, time-charter hire and Forward freight agreements, and how each can be applied during day to day trade.
Thank you to the 16 participants who made it as enjoyable and just as informative for me with their many questions and comments. I wish you all the best in your chosen careers.
Finally, a special thanks to Marco Passalia and to Martin Spillmann for making this CAS possible once again.
