Shipping artical upgrade
A ships propulsion
If we were to take it that this ship has 4 X 20MW steam back pressure turbine, that is MW electrical power out.? This would require 4 steam generators with 6 plasma unit in each, 24plasma units.
Then 2 X 10MW steam back pressure turbine, that is MW electrical power, this would require 2 steam generators with 4 plasma units in each, 8 plasma units.
With then a total of 32 plasma units.
Desalinated water required, 852M3/hr, the total propulsion power of 100MW.
Then the desalination water required for the ship and crew would be on top of that.?
?A Container ship panamax size, twin screw of 50,000HP, assuming 50.000 x 2 total 100,000Hp, 75MW equivalent, then the above setup would be suitable.

Take a real big one Finnish W?rtsil?-Sulzer RTA96-C It's a 25,480 liter, 14-cylinder engine that produces nearly 110,000 horsepower.
No good as a single screw for this, so twin screw, with total of? 110,000HP= 82MW this would still do the job.?
?So, look at the Triple E class, twin screw, Maersk, 2 X 30MW total of 60MW, this would still work.
The Handysize total power is only up to 10,000HP or 8MW so a much small setup required.
Two small steam back pressure generators of 10MW each could produce enough power to drive this size requiring just 8 plasma units. This would also increase it speed, not being governed by fuel economy.? It could also use a high-speed steam turbine for propulsion.
With the new steam generators there is no ‘boiler’ problems to worry about as the system does not use the standard ‘boiler’. The system is Critical Fluid (water), so it means that a new set of rules would apply in calculating ‘economy’, as there are none.
For cruise ships, the 80 to 100MW system would be easy if they had azipod’s, as most of the fare goes in the fuel price.

1 周found some shots of some earlier tests, a blast of plasma power from water.

2 个月also some years ago this was proposed to the power station in the Latrobe valley Victoria not by my but a scientist friend of mine, It was thought that he would be listened to, but what was there answer, "sorry we prefer to keep shoveling coal' it was a way to stop using coal, and use the Plasma generators for the heating. There was a lot of calculations that had to be done. The water from the local waste water was to supply the water needed. Something that you could not do with a coal burning was to recirculate the exhaust, but with this system you could. Any similar 'boiler' could be modified. that was some 18years ago. there are now upgrade that can be done. This is just one example.

3 个月there is some thing with the generation of this type of plasma to note, water disassociation, is at 2,700C , hydrogen and oxygen disassociation, at temperatures just over the 3,200C, also rapid expansion of gasses is just under 2,000 times, now think if this could happen in a confined space what would you have?

3 个月there is a full report on the application to a capesize ship being put together. suitable for any ship requiring 100MW to 150MW of power, or it can be scaled for smaller ship
