April is Stress Awareness Month.
It’s time to shine a spotlight on our mental wellbeing and challenge ourselves to take practical steps towards managing our stress more effectively. ? In today’s fast-paced world, stress has become a common companion for many of us. Organisations talk about wellbeing more, we see it talked about more on TV and social media too.
Here at Inspire Ignite, you’ll hear us talk about ENERGY loads. Becoming more aware of how energised we feel is an important start in mastering our stress management?and can lead to a happier and more fulfilled life.
With that in mind, here are our 5 top tips for keeping stress at bay and maximising your energy:
Our 5 Top Tips:
1.?Recognise Your Stress Signals: Pay attention to your body's signals—be it tension, headaches, stomach discomfort, irritability, or just feeling overwhelmed. Sit quietly for a few minutes and do a ‘body scan’. Start at your toes and move your attention up your body – ankles, calves, knees, hips, stomach, back, right up to your head. If you notice any tension focus on it for a few moments – often it will ease. Energy flows where attention goes! ?
2. Establish Boundaries: In both personal and professional settings. Should you be politely saying no more? Understand your limits, and communicate them clearly to others.? ?
3. Embrace a Healthy Lifestyle: Regular exercise, taking breaks, nutrition, time away from devices and sleep play important roles in building and maintaining physical energy levels.
4. Practice Mindfulness and Relaxation Techniques: Techniques such as meditation, reiki, deep breathing exercises, and yoga can promote relaxation and reduce stress.?You don’t need to be a Buddhist monk to be mindful. Just sitting quietly for a few minutes when your mind feels ‘busy’ can make a huge difference! ?
5. Take Time for Yourself: It’s important to allocate time for activities that bring you joy. Whether it's reading, gardening, or pursuing a hobby. Make sure you?carve out some "me" time in your schedule. This can act as a powerful antidote to stress. ?
Remember that managing stress is not a one-size-fits-all solution. It's about finding what works best for you and integrating those practices into your daily life.?If your stress becomes overwhelming, reach out to others.?If you'd like to connect with a professional counsellor, get in touch and we'll send you some details.
