Shiksha Saptah: Salaam Bombay Foundation's Support and Impact

Shiksha Saptah, an initiative by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, marked a dynamic week of activities that redefined the learning experience for students. This event engaged over 4,000 students across 48 schools, with a diverse array of programmes ranging from fitness and cultural days to skill and health education initiatives. Salaam Bombay Foundation (SBF) proudly supported this initiative, bringing our expertise and enthusiasm to each activity.

Each day of Shiksha Saptah was meticulously planned to ensure that students not only learned new concepts but also applied them in practical, real-world scenarios, fostering both intellectual and personal growth. From July 24th to July 27th, students enthusiastically participated in games, performances, and workshops, enhancing their knowledge and boosting confidence.

Educational Week Fitness Programme

On the first day, 1,252 students from 11 schools were engaged in activities that emphasized the importance of fitness. Students participated in indigenous games like Kho Kho, Kabaddi, Langadi, and dodgeball. A pledge was taken by all students to regularly participate in physical activities and sports, setting a strong foundation for a healthy lifestyle.

Cultural Day

The second day saw 480 students from 15 schools immerse themselves in cultural activities. Workshops included Koli dance performances, storytelling, theatre, singing, and folk dance, providing a platform for students to express their creativity and build confidence.

Skill and Digital Innovations Day

This day focused on skill-building and digital innovations. Activities included clay art and mask making for 240 students from 7 schools, photography for 210 students from 7 schools, and various sessions on mobile repair, beauty & wellness, robotics, AI, financial literacy, and more for 391 students from 10 schools.?

Health Education Programme

The final day was dedicated to health education, reaching 1,774 students from 25 schools. Activities included health talks on nutrition, microgreen cultivation, the creation of school kitchen gardens, handwashing activities, and a nutrition oath. These sessions educated students on maintaining good health and encouraged proactive steps toward a healthier lifestyle.


Shiksha Saptah, supported by Salaam Bombay Foundation, was a resounding success. Each day's activities were designed to nurture physical, mental, and creative growth, significantly impacting the students' educational journey. This report encapsulates the vibrant essence of Shiksha Saptah, reinforcing SBF's commitment to partnering with the government on innovative educational opportunities and showcasing how education can transcend traditional boundaries and truly ignite a passion for learning.
