Navigating the intersection between postponement strategies and additive manufacturing | Cranfield University

Postponement has long been a go-to strategy for making supply chains more responsive, delaying production and logistics decisions until demand becomes clearer. But with the rise of?Additive Manufacturing (AM)?postponement is reaching a whole new level.?

A recent study from Cranfield University ?highlights how AM helps businesses to customize products much later in the supply chain, closer to the end customer. This shift allows for?low-to-medium production flexibility, and reduces waste and transportation.?

For supply chain leaders, integrating AM into postponement strategies requires careful consideration of cost, cross-border compliance, and demand variability. But for those who get it right, the benefits are clear:?faster production, enhanced customization, and a more resilient supply chain.

The next step for Enterprises: Decision Intelligence | Gurobi Optimization

Decision Intelligence Technology, particularly mathematical optimization, is transforming the way enterprises make decisions.

This whitepaper from Gurobi Optimization explains how businesses can use data-driven optimization to improve operational efficiency, maximize resource utilization, and automate complex decision-making across different industries and organizational levels: ?

  • How industries like manufacturing, logistics and finance are making faster, smarter decisions
  • Why mathematical optimization beats reactive planning every time
  • What it takes to move from static planning to real-time execution

Global supply chain leader survey 2024 | McKinsey & Company

Are supply chains becoming more resilient, or are we just getting used to the risks?

A 麦肯锡 survey shows a mixed picture:

?? Only 25% of companies have formal processes to discuss supply chain risks at the board level. This lack of visibility can leave businesses exposed to major disruptions. ?

?? 60% of companies now have a clear view of their tier-one suppliers, but transparency into deeper supply chain tiers is declining.? ?

?? While 66% of companies are implementing advanced planning and scheduling (APS) systems, only 10% have completed deployment, and many struggle to quantify the business impact. ?

?? 90% of surveyed companies report they lack the digital talent needed for supply chain transformation. Many are now shifting back to in-house training as a long-term solution.
