Is your mindset negatively or positively affecting your life? If you have been slogging away at the same task and getting the same results it is often due to your mindset rather on your actions. Instead of stressing about what you are doing wrong, focus instead on what you have don right and your desired result. What are you aiming for? What will that feel like once you’ve succeeded? You will be surprised at how quickly your mindset shifts to a better, more positive position.
Here are 3 more great ways to shift your mindset:
1. See Failures as a Time for Growth
In a time of failure, you have two options. The first is to remain frustrated with yourself, often blaming others and feeling resentment or anger towards the problem itself. The other is to accept the failure, understand that great successes come hand in hand with many mistake. Try to grow and learn through the actions you took and be careful not to repeat them. Write down what helped you and what blocked success. This is not an easy mindset shift, especially if you have had many years, or even decades in the same mindset. Start to change one small behaviour, until it is habit, and then move onto the next. Soon your new mindset will shift the results you are getting will benefit hugely.
2. Fuel your faith, not your fear
This is a difficult skill to master, especially if the fears you have are used to being the main focus of your day. Let me say here that fear is normal and it is natural to experience it. Fear is even healthy, as you know when you start to feel it, you know you are growing and moving forward. A great way to stop fear from overruling your day is to take some time to write a list of what has gone right. What have you done that went well? What have you done that has fostered your faith instead of fueling your fears? What you give energy to will likely manifest. Fuel your faith by seeing yourself beyond your current circumstances and looking for ways things could go right instead of focusing on what could go wrong.
3. Love the process more than the outcome
It is easy to focus on the desired outcome and the destination instead of savouring the journey. The obstacles, the challenges, the early mornings and the late nights; the pathway to success is what builds champions. Of course, you are going to get most of your motivation and inspiration from the end result of the thing you are most passionate about, but believe it or not, the value is minimal there. The strength, growth and perseverance are instilled in the individual not through the destination or end result, but through the process of getting there. Through the pure grit and courage to break through barriers, ignore the fears and do what is needed to accomplish your desires.
