Shift Your Mindset From Doubt & Worry To Passion & Positivity

There are times in my life when I have felt overwhelmed with feelings of doubt or worry. This was especially apparent at the start of the pandemic when the industry I had built a career in for more than 20 years, collapsed in a matter of weeks. A company that had been around for 40 years and had just celebrated a record sales year 2019, permanently laid off all of its employees in a matter of months. The promotion I had accepted and moved across the country to take, evaporated before my eyes.

I had never been unemployed. In fact, I had never had to “look” for a job. I didn’t know where to begin, I felt like I was drowning in a sea of doubt and worry, with no idea what the future may hold.

Thankfully I had been working on methods to shift my mindset from negativity to positivity for many years, so I leaned into the tools and knowledge I used to overcome other major obstacles and, for the first time ever, I even invested in a life coach. I didn’t really have the funds to do so, but I decided I needed support and guidance, and that’s exactly what I received. Within a few months, I finally made the decision to become an entrepreneur once again.

I had been mentoring women for many years, and realized that I had both the life experiences and the knowledge to guide others to find their most passionate lives. I never thought that would be my next career, but the universe has some amazing and unpredictable ways to guide us to where we’re meant to be. This is the third business I’ve built from the ground up and by far, the most satisfying on so many levels.

It’s difficult to live a passionate life if you spend most of your time doubting yourself, worrying about the future, or ruminating on the past. I strive to implement mindset methods and practical tools to change negative thought patterns so that I can wake up excited and grateful for the day ahead. There can be no permanent change in our lives without a change in thinking.

I am always researching and trying new methods to keep my mindset in a passionate and positive state and I encourage you to do the same. This past winter I introduced cold water therapy into my self-care practices. I set out at 6 am, in the pitch dark, to meet with friends (see picture attached) who were committed to plunging into the 0 degree Celsius waters of Lake Ontario while braving - 15 degree Celsius air temperatures. It was difficult, it was slightly crazy, yet it left me feeling positive, empowered, clear-headed and full of passion and positivity for the day ahead. Any feelings of doubt and worry I may have been feeling vanished the minute I entered the frigid water.

There are dozens of ways to move a mindset plagued by doubt and worry to one of passion and positivity. Here are a few pointers to get you started:

1. When you wake up, pull out your journal (get one if necessary) and write down five repetitive patterns of thinking that you no longer wish to engage in - ie I never have enough time; I have too many things to do; I’m not __________ (fill in the blank - thin, pretty, smart, sexy, wealthy, etc) enough. Next, think of 5 things to be grateful for and take a couple of minutes to truly FEEL appreciation for these blessings. Give thanks to the universe – the God of your understanding – for these beautiful gifts.?

2. Ask universal source energy for the strength and guidance to be the best person you can be that day, to be of service to others and to remain in the feelings of gratitude throughout your day. Thank the universe, in advance, for answering these requests. When you ask, it is given.

3. Meditate for at least 10 minutes a day. Combining this with 5 minutes of breathwork prior to your meditation will amplify the benefits. Find a guided meditation that focuses on self-love. Self-love is essential to changing our mindset.?

4. When you find your mind drifting towards a worrisome or negative thought, actively stop and ask yourself: what if the exact opposite were to happen? Think of this positive outcome and decide to invest your energy in that direction. What we think about, we bring about. You deserve the best outcome possible.
