Hotshoes has been in the industry for over 35 years, and in that time we have been fortunate enough to make lasting impressions and memorable experiences with everyone we have worked with, both locally and abroad. Our commitment to excellence has won us more than 30 awards and allowed us to grow into a regional business.

But once the Movement Control Order (MCO) came into full force, it became challenging for us to keep up the momentum of physical events, which meant that we needed to find a way to adapt from physical to virtual events practically overnight.?

Here are the 4 things that we did to embrace change, and overcome those tough times during MCO.?

1. TIME TO UPSKILL

We upskilled our knowledge with countless training sessions and meetings with both local and international vendors. But most importantly, we reflected on our research and made it a point to share new knowledge with the team every week in order to ensure that we could remain competitive, tech and trend savvy.

2. TRIAL AND ERROR?

All of that led us on a whirlwind of trial and error where we explored (and even built our own) solutions for virtual events. We started from the ground up, experimenting on digital platforms and reporting back to the team on what worked and what did not.?Today, we even have our own in house green screen studio.

3. COMMUNICATION IS KEY?

As remote work becomes the norm, communication and transparency have become more vital than ever. Thus, we’ve added additional project management and productivity tools to our toolbelt that allows us transparency and ensures that all team members are on the same page wherever they are. With clear communication and an adaptive hybrid style of work, we ensure our services are still delivered with quality, agility, and value.?

4. FIND SOMETHING THAT KEEPS YOU GOING?

As a team that spent a lot of time together both in the office and out, the sudden onset of the quarantine admittedly took a toll on the team. And thus, in order to keep the team motivated and together, we organized plenty of virtual get-togethers, using multiple social platforms to watch movies, exercise, and sometimes even play games together.

Despite the rollercoaster ride, we are proud of our experiences and our ability to do things differently, while evolving with the times; From pioneering digitized events in Malaysia, and now adding virtual events to our range of expertise.

We are in an industry that has become completely volatile since MCO; there are constant changes. Thus, we need to set our minds on where we are heading and focus on the solutions, not the problems.
