Shift from Trained Leaders to Transformational Leaders - Part 11

Can you confidently say that you are a Transformational Leader? Honestly before I studied this chapter from "Leadershift" book, all I heard about was Digital Transformation and I had no idea there is something/someone called as a Transformational Leader.

The Impact Shift that John Maxwell talks about in this chapter 11 is crystal clear and I can say with confidence that I am a Transformational Leader in the making!

If your actions inspire people to dream more, learn more, do more, and become more, then you are a transformational leader.

Once I understood the difference and the value of making this impact shift, it took me a while to change from deep within and become less self-centered. When I joined the Maxwell Leadership Team (rebranded from The John Maxwell Team), my purpose and goal was to get the necessary training I needed to "shine" as one of the greatest leader of all times. That was pretty hollow and self-centered, now that I am reflecting on it. I am so glad I made this shift in my leadership journey and I cannot wait to hear about your experience as a Leader.

Let's take a look at the difference between a Trained Leader and a Transformational Leader:

Over the past 3 years, I have coached many leaders (especially Project Managers, HR Professionals, Agile Coaches & more) and I have created an environment that promotes positive change.

I conducted workshops, led training, facilitated 25+ CYW Transformation Tables to learn good values, share good ideas, speak about themselves with candor and honesty, state their intentions and hold one another accountable.

How did I do that? Remember the acronym C-A-L-L which stands for:

+++ Challenged them to be more intentional in identifying their strengths ( utilized the Maxwell DISC Assessment)

+++ Asked them to ponder over what value they brought specifically to the team they worked alongside with (offered a 1:1 Debrief Session after the assessment)

+++ Looked them in the eye and spoke into their lives with bold words about a better future (conducted Individual Coaching sessions)

+++ Led the way by first focusing on my own Transformation before I showed them how to do it (led the Change Your World Transformation Table facilitation)

I had the opportunity to travel with my mentors John C. Maxwell (Founder), Mark Cole (CEO), Chris Robinson (EVP) and 125+ Maxwell Leadership Team coaches to Dominican Republic for my first Country Transformation Trip and I was equipped to train the leaders at DR and show them how they could see more, do more and become more using the Values Based Lessons. It was an incredible experience and I can't wait for YOU to be on a trip like this - one of my friends encouraged me to go on my first trip, that's unforgettable!

For the 3rd time in a row, I hosted the annual Leadership Event Live2Lead virtually and in person where I shared my passion to be a difference maker/world-changer with all the attendees and inspired them to make a significant impact in this world by joining hands and collaborating with each other.

I believed in each of them and their potential to do more, be more and become more - I saw passion emerge from them, it changed their lives and the way they lead!

I went a step further and offered some of the trained Facilitators & Spanish Interpreters from Dominican Republic, the opportunity to learn leadership lessons from world-class leaders as a Private Rebroadcast of Live2Lead 2021. A key takeaway from this chapter about shifting from a Trained Leader to a Transformational Leader states:

"Change does not happen unless transformational leaders commit themselves to making a difference in their community and invite others to join them in the process."

I am excited for this new chapter in my personal life (just got upgraded to a mother-in-law).

I am writing a new chapter in my professional life with other leaders who are serving on the Maxwell Leadership Team - President's Advisory Council (PAC) and are committed to developing members who are leaders using our individual strengths as we collaborate to make a bigger impact in our world.
