In the corporate world, traditional metrics and KPIs have often been centered around outcomes. While outcomes are undoubtedly essential, there's a growing realization of the importance of rewarding behaviors. Why? Because the right behaviors pave the way for the desired outcomes.
As depicted in the illustration, if we genuinely aim to transform our corporate culture, we must reward the behavioral shifts leading to those outcomes.
It's not just about hitting targets; it's about the journey there. It's about rewarding agility, creativity, risk-taking, entrepreneurship, and adaptability.
Thus to effect genuine change, we need to incentivize the actions and mindsets that bring us closer to our goals, not just the end result. So, as we re-evaluate our metrics and KPIs, let's remember that change begins with rewarding the right behaviors. Only then can we expect the outcomes to follow.
