I had the pleasure of meeting franchise owner, Alissa D. Gardenhire, Ph.D. , who is committed to helping students become the best in their class and elevate their learning. She is a former urban planner who decided it was time to pivot and find her what’s next, which she found in franchise ownership.?What emerged was Best in Class Education Center located in South Orange, NJ, which she jumped in with both feet.

While Dr. Alissa’s entry into franchising was easy, sustaining the business not so much.?She quickly learned, coming from an academic background, she had no knowledge about running a business.?Marketing, brand awareness, sustainability is the job of the franchise owner. She indicated that “franchisors don’t teach you to run a business, they give you a business to run”.
