Shepperton Studios Community Fund Grants Announced

Shepperton Studios have awarded the latest round of grants from their Community Fund. The £500,000 Fund was launched in 2022 to support local individuals, non-profit and voluntary organisations including charities, social enterprises, and community groups that serve the Shepperton area and wider borough of Spelthorne.?The fund applications are reviewed and presented twice a year and has so far supported 19 local organisations. In this latest round Staines Shopmobility and Ashford Youth and Community Club received grants.

Tristam Slater, General Manager, Shepperton Studios said,

“Our aim with the Shepperton Community Fund, part of our ‘Set for more: Community’ initiative, is to support a wide variety of charities and organisations across the Borough of Spelthorne, local to our Studios. The two awards this time really reflect that scope – enhancing the provision of creative programmes for Ashford Youth and accessibility to the local community for those with limited mobility via Shopmobility. I actively encourage more organisations to apply for this funding.”

Ashford Youth and Community Club – Kick Start Your Creativity

Ashford youth club is one of the leading voluntary youth work providers in Spelthorne, supporting over 130 different young people a week. It has a focus on offering opportunities for young people at little cost- whether that's the Duke of Edinburgh Award or most recently the arts. It is a peer project meaning young people are actively involved in the planning and delivery of projects.

The funding from Shepperton Studios will enhance our fledgling arts programme which brings local artists and creative companies into the club to raise awareness of creative pathways for young people.?

Jessica aged 15 said,

We are really looking forward to the different arts that we can have at the youth club from this funding. It will introduce us to amazing ideas and new experiences. Already in the trial I have taken on areas I didn’t think I could access.”

Staines Shopmobility

The need for a Shopmobility service in Staines was first identified in a study of accessible transport commissioned by Spelthorne Committee for Access Now (SCAN), a voluntary group that seeks to improve access and facilities for disabled people in Spelthorne.?

?David Bisiker, Manager of Staines Shopmobility said,

?“We would like to thank the Community Foundation for Surrey and the Shepperton Studio Community Fund for their generous support of our work. This grant will enable the charity to better meet the needs of people with limited mobility wishing to carry out everyday tasks in their local community.”

Rebecca Bowden, Chief Executive Officer, Community Foundation for Surrey

"We are delighted to continue our collaboration with the Shepperton Studios Community Fund in awarding these grants, as they will undoubtedly make a significant difference to people in the local community."
