A Shepherd's Prayer
Father, as an under-shepherd of your flock, may I be willing to lay down and lay aside my life for the sheep.
I am not sure what that means, but may I never abandon the vulnerable, the weak, the lame, the wounded, or the chronic wanderers.
I will go where you lead me and take any assignment you give, but I commit to be in that place and love that flock for as long as your assignment dictates it.
I am not a hired hand serving my own interests.
Help me to remember that as I too, am also among the sheep, following the Good Shepherd.
In His Name. Amen.
"The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly. I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep." - John 10:10-11

5 个月John 10:10 is my favorite verse. On the one hand: A synopsis of the Gospel in but a few words… And on the other hand: A very clear definition of the grief and sorrows brought by the ‘claimed god’ of the earth, satan: ? stealing ? killing ? destroying… .vs Our All Creative, Almighty, All Powerful, All Redemptive, Soon Coming God of Everything Christ Jesus: “I came that they may have life and have it abundantly”! Not another verse in God’s Word is so clear a distinction, between satan being the ‘so called father’ of scarcity…vs Almighty Christ Jesus being The Creator of Abundance! ?????????????????? U2’s Bono sings God’s: “Grace, she takes the blame. She covers the shame. Removes the stain… Grace makes beauty out of ugly things…” and he’s right! John 15:13 NASB (New American Standard Bible) 13 “Greater love has no one than this, that a person will lay down his life for his friends.”
