SHEIN is a global online retailer that sells fashion and lifestyle products. It’s a global fashion and lifestyle e-retailer committed to making the beauty of fashion accessible to all. SHEIN sells a variety of products, including Fashion apparel, Home goods, Beauty products, Accessories, Shoes, Pet supplies, Electronics, and Tools. With millions of users across the globe, SHEIN is no doubt one of the best global online retailers in app stores today.

With stellar popularity, there’s no doubt that SHEIN has already established a high ranking in the Google Play Store. As this might be the case, there’s still a lot of work to do. there is still a way to maximize their app store visibility and, therefore, increase their chance of getting noticed. For example, SHEIN is ranked number 2 in the Shopping category at the time of this writing.

In this ASO audit, let’s take a look at how SHEIN can improve its keyword ranking in the most efficient way possible.

SHEIN Keyword Research

We did a quick keyword research for SHEIN. We have shared the details at the end of this post.?

Looking at the research result, we can see that we are already ranking for some important keywords. Nevertheless, we have identified some great opportunities for us to take advantage of.

In this situation, ASO intelligence tools come in handy. These tools are effective in identifying popular keywords with the lowest competition. For example, in ShyftUp, we use Mobile Action to perform reliable keyword research.

Among the results we get is the term Search Score. Here’s a quick overview:

  • The Search Score ranges from 5 to 100. The score represents the number of users who are searching for a specific keyword compared to other keyword options in the App Store and Google Play.
  • To give you an example, one of the keywords with the highest ranking is the keyword “Facebook.” It has a search score of 100.
  • The lowest score is 5, which means no one is virtually searching for that keyword. Most keywords will never even see a score beyond 5.

Going back to the results that we got, here’s how SHEIN’s ranking looks like:

  • “Womens clothing” keyword has a search score of 52, which we rank at no. 38.

  • “Mens clothing” keyword has a search score of 52, which we rank at no. 24.

  • “Plus size clothing” keyword has a search score of 51, which we rank at no. 29.

  • “Womens sneakers” keyword has a search score of 51, which we rank at no. 36.

  • “Womens shoes” keyword has a search score of 51, which we rank at no. 33.

  • “Shipping” keyword has a search score of 49, which we rank at no. 27.

  • “Vintage clothing” keyword has a search score of 47, which we rank at no. 32.

  • “Workout clothing” keyword has a search score of 46, which we rank at no. 25.

  • “Plus size womens clothing” keyword has a search score of 43, which we rank at no. 27.

  • “Home appliances” keyword has a search score of 42, which we rank at no. 26.

  • “Sports equipment” keyword has a search score of 41, which we rank at no. 42.

  • “Shop deals” keyword has a search score of 41, which we rank at no. 31.

  • “Sports clothing” keyword has a search score of 39, which we rank at no. 24.

  • “Women streetwear” keyword has a search score of 34, which we rank at no. 46.

  • “Women shopping” keyword has a search score of 33, which we rank at no. 17.

  • “Shopping deals” keyword has a search score of 31, which we rank at no. 50.

  • “Shoes shopping” keyword has a search score of 31, which we rank at no. 35.

  • “Discounts shopping” keyword has a search score of 31, which we rank at no. 28.
  • “Kids clothing” keyword has a search score of 26, which we rank at no. 34.

We also did research on competitor keywords. We got the following results:

  • “Amazon” keyword has a search score of 81, which we rank at no. 20.

  • “Kohls” keyword has a search score of 71, which we rank at no. 17.

  • “Etsy” keyword has a search score of 71, which we rank at no. 17.

  • “Instagram” keyword has a search score of 71, which we rank at no. 81.

  • “Dollar general” keyword has a search score of 66, which we rank at no. 19.

  • “Mercari” keyword has a search score of 61, which we rank at no. 17.

The results show us that there is a lot of room for improvement. To ensure that we climb up the rankings, we should use these keywords in our metadata.
