Shed for the Homeless
December 2016, Chris and I with a couple of friends set out to help some homeless living in tents. With bellow 0 temps on the way, we had to act fast. Joe approached us and asked if we had any spare plywood to put up against his tent to block the wind... the rest is history. We called it the Christmas Miracle... In 10 days we gathered material and support, then built 3 Structure, Installed a Wood Stove in the common area (called the kitchen), and an outhouse. Bev Timmins was so moved by this she adopted the friends at "the Shed" and began taking them food, water, homemade cookies and hot food. Bev with the help of some friends was able to donate a pump and a water holding tank for showers. Jake with shower to the people gave line for our friends to get water. Two of the original members that had been homeless for over 5 years, with the help from Riverbend Family Ministries are now living in their first apartment, working every day and are integrating back into society. Yesterday Tammy from Riverbend Family Ministries and I talked about what we could do in Bev's honor; we came up with a plan. Today, I met with Darrin, and we put numbers to the plan and will be building two more sheds in her honor. We are humbled and amazed at God's blessing. I hope you're as excited as we are!
