She Ventures Turns 5-There is still work to do

Stilettos what?!? She Ventures turns 5 years old this month! Here I am, one year into the journey at the Nasdaq Entrepreneurial Center  in San Francisco (pic 1) and speaking my truth to diversify outdoor athletes and media at Outdoor Retailer (pic 2).

It’s been a wild ride. We’ve hosted over 25 events and now launching virtual ones. We’ve had the privilege of working with world class brands that want to do better, helped founders and leaders around the world, and helped small-mid sized women-owned businesses grow. Most importantly- we’ve been a reminder for women not to dim their light no matter what room they may find themselves in. We are an active voice for equality across all sectors and in sports. We know there is a correlation to honoring the divine feminine and divine Mother Earth—both are a life force.

As a daughter of immigrants, I’ve also experienced the inequalities that come with a lack of network, capital, and access--having to find ways to create my own from scratch.

I thought 5 years in a company like She Ventures might be obsolete—you know, that was my wish. BUT as much as there has been some progress, the world is far from being an equal place. I started She Ventures because I feel a duty to help unleash the untapped power of women around the world. We are the largest untapped resource. Given equal opportunities, women hold the key to being the largest contributors of positive economic, social, and environmental change globally.

The world thrives when ALL women thrive. The potential of our power and impact is infinite.

It’s been a mountain of its own—founder life. This is my 3rd startup, we are self-funded, and I keep going because there is still work to do.

It’s a good thing I’m a mountaineer (also self-supported)—it’s helped me on this climb for equality in business, athleticism, and the wellbeing of women at large, and of course on the mountain called entrepreneurship.
