She Shouts - December 2023 edition

Presenting our fourth and last newsletter of 2023. This quarter, we not only hosted a couple of stellar online cafés but we also came together in-person in different parts of the world to connect the community and feel that real life lawbreaker energy!

SBTL (online) Global Cafés ?

Part Two of AI: how to take it, embrace it and use it ????

At our SBTL Global Café in October, Nicola Jones (aka NOO), our UK lead lawbreaker was joined once again by, digital transformation specialist and "Law Rebel", Suzanna Kalendzian – who guided us through the complexities of AI and explored the skill sets necessary for successful engagement.

Suzanna shared her ChatGPT Cheat Sheet and talked us through what makes a great prompt.?We were advised to treat ChatGPT like a 3-year-old who has an unfailing sense of self-belief!? Best approach is to be kind and positive and you’ll get results. Also, keep it busy by assigning it a task like, “summarise this two-hour YouTube video”.? And remember, there are plenty of other tools -?find the one that can help you with your biggest area of need.?You can download Susanna’s Cheat Sheet here:?https://2905825558435.gumroad.com/l/chatgpt-cheat-sheet-by-suzanna.?You can offer a donation or surprise Susanna with a coffee??

As AI continues to dominates agendas everywhere, plan on opening 2024 with a new session to continue our development in this arena. Join us on 26th Jan, as we are joined by lawbreakers Julie Saliba, Chief Innovator at Echo.Legal and Lynn MacKay, Associate Director of Innovation & Practice Solutions at Proskauer Rose LLP to share and learn more about:

·?????? When is ChatGPT useful AND when it is not?!

·?????? How do you use prompts effectively?

·?????? Top tips & tricks

End of Year Global Café featuring Joanna Jenkins: #SheShares to #EndtheYear ????

For our SBTL Global Café in December, we had Joanna Jenkins, former international law firm partner?and author of?2023 legal thriller?“How To Kill A Client” join us and share story.? Joanna’s raw honesty, sense of humour and passion for story telling had the whole virtual room fully engaged. Expertly facilitated by Aussie lead lawbreakers Katherine Thomas and Bronwyn Eynon-Lewis, this fun and inspiring session was the perfect way for us to end the year in 2023!

We are better together - in-person…

She Breaks the Law IBA pop-up - small & mighty - in Paris????

A few lawbreakers managed to get-together for a rendezvous during the International Bar Association - IBA Annual Conference in October in Paris! Remember, lawbreaker meet-ups can be small but mighty – so the next time, you are out and about at various international events – use the space and meet up with friendly faces. That’s the beauty of the pop-up lawbreaker café - it can happen any time, any place, anywhere!

She Breaks the Law -?#SheConnects?Dubai ????

After nearly four years, we returned to Dubai in November this year for a gathering of lawbreakers on the beautiful rooftop of the PWC Dubai offices.?There were lots of meaningful conversations and connections at the expertly facilitated networking circles topics, including: financial freedom and generational wealth, capitalizing on AI for your career, finding your superpower, designing your life, sustainability and work-life balance in a hybrid world. Thank you to our facilitators - Allison Hosking, Alexandra Aikman,?Kiran Scarr,?Emilia Law,?Anna Zeitlin and?Amal Larhlid for their time and insights.

The highlight of the evening was the electrifying energy in the air from the incredible #lawbreaker community who travelled across the GCC region to attend this #SheConnects event.?Plans are in motion for the next event in 2024. Watch this space!

Proud to power The Say Gap in London ??????♂?

The Say Gap was a very special day of lawbreakers connecting, developing, sharing their stories and lifting each other up to be brave, and overcome all sorts of barriers when it comes to public speaking. Guided by the experts at?Ginger Leadership Communications,?women in law came together in one day to learn how to structure their very own TED style talk. From crystallising thought and an idea worth spreading, into taking people on a journey from A to B with data points and stories in between, presenting in different styles and learning to "own our weird", the whole day culminated in everyone getting the change to deliver their own TED talk, to small groups and even on the stage itself. Huge thanks to?Team?Cosmonauts?for organising,?and?Legal IT Insider?for initiating,?BigHand?for sponsoring and?EY?for hosting. We are grateful our community got to power this.

As we head towards 2024, we hope? She Breaks the Law?can be a space for event organisers in law to come to seek speakers to ensure diversity on panels for legal events. Let's work together to make 2024 manel-free. And remember lawbreakers - in 2024, if someone asks you to speak? Just say YES.

Class of 2023 ??

At the end of every year, we look to celebrate those lawbreakers who have gone over and above to contribute to She Breaks the Law. As a free community powered by volunteers, we are so grateful for these lawbreakers who give up their time willingly to help others and bring their energy, creativity and passion to fuel the movement.

This year we celebrate Sarah Ouis, Suzanna Kalendzhian, Kunoor Chopra, Katherine Thomas and Bronwyn Eynon-Lewis to the Class of 2023 lead lawbreakers! BIG THANK YOU to them for sharing their knowledge and insights generously to develop others, inspiring and leading through authenticity, spreading the movement and hosting events for the community – we are grateful and proud to have them lead the community.

End of year reflections and holiday greetings ?? ??
