LOVE…. My bride and I are attending an out-of-town-wedding of our Grandson, and while here, we came upon a “Street Festival” and stopped to enjoy the fun. We approached a “bakery stand,” and my wife picked out a bakery item, and turned to me, indicating to pay the lady for the bakery item. I pulled out my credit card, as I had no cash. The clerk explained they took only cash.
A young girl, possibly 18 or so…came forward saying… “Ma’am, I’m going to pay for that.” Of course, we turned her sweet, kind offer down. She was insistent, and persistent…and paid the clerk for the bakery item. Our hearts were overwhelmed, and humbled. She expressed the purest of love. Not knowing us, and never to see us again…she seized an opportunity to express “unconditional love.” God Bless her always.
Love is a gift; not a two-way street. It's not give and take. Love is a one-way street, requiring 100%..... otherwise you're just poking fun at one of God's greatest gifts. Love thy neighbor as thyself. And, if you "expect" love in return... it's not true love.
Mark 12:30-31 – The greatest of these (commandments) is …And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: “Love your neighbor as yourself. No other commandment is greater than these.”
