She was a fighter and she was a writer.
On the 30th of May 2024 at 4:47 AM, I lost my mother. A remarkable woman who was both a writer and a fighter. Her journey was one of resilience and courage, marked by her unwavering dedication to her family and her passion for justice.
From her college days, my mom exemplified perseverance, balancing the demanding roles of a student and a mother. Despite the challenges, she pursued and fought for her education while raising her children, showing us all the power of dedication and hard work.
During her career as a journalist, she wrote with conviction and fought tirelessly for social causes, giving a voice to those who were often unheard. She also interviewed a wide variety of famous politicians, academics, celebrities, and government officials ... Through her various writings and interviews, she taught us to always ask the right questions, always read between the lines and never judge a book by its cover.
My mom instilled in us how to pursue our dreams and to always embrace and lead change to keep progressing in life. During her journalism career, she witnessed the transformation of the paper-based journalism to the digital space. My mom dreamt and believed in this change, and she fought to establish one of the very first online newspapers in the kingdom. This was her dream and through her dedication and drive she made it happen.
After the devastating loss of my father, my mom continued to show incredible strength, fighting through her grief for 1026 days with grace and determination. She continued to be a source of support and love for our family, even as she navigated her own grief.
In her final battle with illness, my mom's indomitable spirit shone through. Despite her suffering, she constantly reassured us that she was fine and urged us to take care of ourselves. Her selflessness and concern for our well-being, even in the face of her own pain, was a testament to her incredible character.
My mother passed away, but her legacy lives on in the values she instilled in us and the lives she touched. She taught us the importance of fighting for what is right, the power of words to create change, and the enduring strength of love and family. She also taught us to be kind and forgiving, even when we were most upset, reminding us that compassion and understanding were more powerful than anger. She was a model of how to be caring with everyone, always extending a helping hand and a kind word to those in need.
