She believed she could, so she did

“?????? ???????????????? ?????? ??????????, ???? ?????? ??????!”?How to get in front of your hero?
Since releasing the first episode of the Anything is Podcast I’ve been asked “how did you get Jacqueline Gold as a guest?”
The last few years I’ve been lucky enough to have conversations and be connected with brands and people that I could have only dreamt of; but dream I did!
1.) It’s not about the sale. In the early years my focus was “I want to do their event” and that approach isn’t going to work if you want to have a meaningful conversation, let alone relationship. Of course I’d love to do an event for someone I admire but that is not my reason for wanting to connect with them.
2.) The reason is if I have genuine interest in a person I am just super happy / excited if they respond to a DM! I can connect with them easily because I already know loads about them and can ask them a genuine question.
4.) Consistency and persistence.?In my early days if I messaged someone I’d be so embarrassed and shy if they didn’t reply so I wouldn’t try again. Now being busy myself I understand you have to prioritise responses. The people I love will get millions more messages than I ever do; so I just keeping popping up asking questions, being enthusiastic. Then one time they might reply!
5.) If they are kind enough to respond, I show how excited, thankful and grateful I am. If it’s made a marked difference to me…I tell them. I reached out to Jacqueline on quite personal things and she was so open.
6.) I don’t expect things for free, I offer value if I can. Whether that’s help with an event, purchasing a product, offering work experience to someone they know, social media, introductions to someone they might need to connect with. Sometimes they don’t want anything but I never assume.
7.) I enjoy connecting people. If there’s a person or brand I think would be useful to them. I make a purposeful introduction. Equally if someone loves a brand or person I know I’ll try and help an introduction.

8.) Be where they are, for example Fern Cottons happy place we paid for VIP tickets which were £140 over £40 but it was the only way I was guaranteed to meet Fern; but I didn’t want to meet her for meetings sake I wanted to ask her tips about hosting a podcast. I had a purpose for this investment both in my education and the future of the business.
9.) I had a goal to meet Oprah, so when she toured in 2020 I went to LA to see the show. Okay I didn’t meet her but I was 2 metres away from her. However JLo was her main guest and JLo inspired so much of Anything is Possible. Particularly around barriers about age which is a big part of the AIP message. That trip was a HUGE investment that not only ticked a life long goal but educated me and helped shape my brand values.?
I could wax lyrical on this subject all day!
I BELIEVED I’d meet Jacqueline and I did! I am honoured to say I know her now and have benefited from her wisdom.
Please tune into episode 1 of the podcast with Jacqueline Gold. You will learn so much about start up; leadership; how to get noticed and then IVF, bereavement and living with breast cancer.
