Shawn Eni & Forest Rain Marcia are launching the #ForTheirMemory campaign

Shawn Eni & Forest Rain Marcia are launching the #ForTheirMemory campaign" - By Frederic Eger - "With this campaign, we hope to give them a way they can join with us, show they care and show everyone else that love is stronger than hate", this is the motto of Shawn Eni, owner of @themossadil Mossad Satirical on X and Instagram, as well as @gazahealth on X, CPA, ERP Project manager, and, Forest Rain Marcia, writer and brand strategist, Owner and creator of Inspiration from Zion, a resource designed to connect people around the world to Israel, are launching?#ForTheirMemory Campaign, a campaign to highlight the exceptional gravity of the October 7th Massacre and the enormous loss Israel and the world. The October 7th massacre has been a massacre of civilians since World War II's Shoah. The following subsequent war have seen many more Israeli lives have been lost.

Shawn and Forest are asking social media channels, organizations, influencers, and politicians to dedicate one day to sharing only the images and stories of those men, women and children Israel has lost this past year.

For one day, no news, no jokes, just honouring the memory of the victim civilians, the soldiers, the police officers, the medics and para-medics; #ForTheirMemory.

On Yom Hazikaron, Israel’s Memorial Day for IDF soldiers and victims of terrorism, Israel commemorates those who fell in battle and were killed in acts of terrorism. Since the Hamas' invasion there has been an enormous loss of Israeli lives, particularly in proportion to Israel's tiny population.

However, the true psychological consequences of the suffering of Israelis are largely overlooked. The impact of each death extends beyond the immediate family, to friends, neighbours, and colleagues but it doesn’t stop there. The impact touches the entire world in the loss of positive influence the world could have benefitted from and will not, in almost every aspect of life - cultural, artistic, scientific, economic, political, and social arenas.?

For this reason, dedicating this Memorial Day to highlighting the loss Israel incurred since the Hamas invasion seemed to be the right thing to do. The goal is to extend the bereavement beyond each family in their private grief, to something the world can understand.

In this campaign, Shawn & Forest want to push out as many pictures and stories of individuals as possible, these people, the hostages, and their families that did not appear in mainstream media; to place faces to the numbers - the media always talks about 1200 or 1400 killed - this is a chance for the world to see those who were taken from the Jewish people.

It's time to pause and look at Israeli brothers and sisters, fathers, mothers, and friends lost; to honour them and to tell the world that this is unacceptable.

This isn’t a matter of creating a "historical archive" of the horrors of the war Hamas began, that kind of archive will need to be created in the future.?

The campaign has started the eve of this Yom Hazikaron at Sunday May 12th, 2024 at nightfall, and, ends on the next first day of Yom Hazikaron on Tuesday, 29 April 2025 at nightfall.

Anyone can participate by sharing the stories that touched their hearts via their personal social media accounts. Bereaved families who don't have social media accounts can share them to Shawn via direct messages on X or to [email protected]. Shawn will be posting them throughout the campaign.?

There is no set technical specifications for the text, photos and videos. Everyone is free to go through the resources Shawn has shared on his post about the campaign (where there are links to archives of stories and images) and create their own. This way it comes from the heart of the people sharing.?

"We want social media to be flooded with the stories and images of people we have lost. Perhaps that will help the world understand that these are not statistics or demonic figures but real, valuable people. We want to alleviate some of the tremendous sorrow from the pat and anxiety from the present and for the future, Israel is experiencing today and why we must make sure that October 7th never happens again", emphasizes Forest.

"It is important that the majority of the world see beyond the lies that the antisemites are spreading. But because most ordinary citizens aren't the ones shouting on the streets and camping out at universities, they are afraid to speak out. We saw the Eurovision results of the public polling. 15 countries chose us (anonymously!). This is their way of participating in this protest. To show us that they are out there", Shawn and Forest conclude.
