Shaun Campbell and the Arthur Wharton Legacy

We first came across Arthur Wharton in a #BlackHistoryMonth edition of our weekly bulletin, ContentED. AMS’ Creative Director, Jason Graham curated five pieces of digital content for this guest issue, leading us to the eye-opening "Remembering Arthur Wharton, Number 1" video on YouTube.

Arthur was the world's first black professional footballer and official fastest man on Earth! A pioneer and trailblazer in sporting history. A fact which hasn’t always been acknowledged.

The video led us to the Arthur Wharton Foundation – a charity founded by Shaun Campbell . The Foundation is all about celebrating the life and achievements of Arthur, promoting equality, and making waves with education and events.

After reaching out to Shaun to let him know that we were featuring the video and foundation in Issue #81 of ContentED, we were thrilled when he accepted an invitation to talk to us on our Janno Signal podcast.

Our Head of Podcasts, Sassy Clyde , really enjoyed her conversation with Shaun, delving into his passion and motivations for the Foundation. While some might label it as an "obsession," Shaun views it as a "duty of care," highlighting the power of compelling content in sparking change.
