In a world brimming with potential for success, love, and abundance, too many of us find ourselves hitting an invisible barrier, a "glass ceiling" of our own making.
This self-imposed limit, famously known as the "upper limit problem", holds us back from realizing our true potential and living our best lives.
But what if we could shatter that ceiling once and for all?
The Upper Limit Problem Explained
The concept of the upper limit problem, introduced by author Gay Hendricks in his book The Big Leap, says that we all have a threshold for how much success, love, and abundance we think we deserve.
Once we hit this threshold, we subconsciously sabotage ourselves to prevent going beyond these limits, thereby remaining within our comfort zones. But the comfort zone is not where growth happens; it's not where we find our zone of genius.
My Personal Twist on Overcoming Limits
In my journey, I've encountered my own upper limits. As someone who never envisioned myself in HR to becoming a C-level executive, I've had to confront and shatter my own ceilings of what I believed was possible MANY TIMES.
My path was not free of self-doubt or self-sabotage.
Yet, through understanding and applying concepts like reality therapy and choice therapy, I've learned that our behaviors are choices, not just subconscious acts of self-sabotage due to an arbitrary upper limit.
Learning from the Stories of Others
Women like Taylor Swift and Oprah Winfrey serve as powerful reminders that ordinary beginnings can lead to extraordinary outcomes. What I love about these two women's stories is that they both started with quite ordinary lives. They were "nothing special" just like you and me - yet - we are all special... if we do the work.
Taylor and Oprah's story is marked by rejection and challenges and they illustrate that the key difference between success and stagnation is not talent or luck but the refusal to accept an upper limit on their dreams.
TLDR: You cannot give up. You must lean on your resilience and grit muscles and never -ever - give up.

My Approach to Shattering Glass Ceilings
My experience has taught me that success, love, and abundance are not reserved for the "special" few. We all can achieve remarkable things if we dare to challenge our limiting beliefs. This involves:
The Path Forward
Shattering your glass ceiling is not a one-time event but a continuous process of growth, learning, and expansion.
The work is never truly done.
It's about raising the bar, one step at a time, and proving to yourself that you can achieve what once seemed impossible. Whether it's negotiating a higher salary, tackling a new job, or simply believing in your worth, each step is a move towards a life unbounded by limits.
TLDR:
We all have the power to transcend the limits we've set for ourselves. The journey involves introspection, resilience, and a steadfast belief in our potential.
By challenging our upper limits and adopting a mindset of growth and abundance, we can unlock doors to opportunities we never imagined possible.
Remember, the only ceilings that exist are the ones we place over ourselves. It's time to pick up the metaphorical sledgehammer of determination, resilience, and self-belief to smash those ceilings. Let's embark on this journey together, shattering barriers and unlocking the infinite possibilities that lie beyond.
