Former Prasar Bharati CEO, Shashi Shekhar Vempati, has joined Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) board as a professional director. At present, he is also the Co-founder of DeepTech for Bharat Foundation. He is also Member of Society of Indian Institute of Mass Communication, and Chairperson of Science & Technology Communication Apex Advisory Committee.

India to witness 9.5 percent growth in ad revenue in 2024; India's total ad revenue in 2024 projected to be $18.5 billion

GroupM’s 2024 global midyear report revealed that global advertising revenue is estimated to grow 7.8 percent in 2024 to $989.8 billion. The report also revealed that the ad industry will surpass one trillion dollars in revenue in 2025. This is a 6.8 percent increase to $1.1 trillion, one year earlier than forecasted by GroupM in December 2023.

The report mentioned that USA and China are the largest drivers of growth accounting for 57.1 percent of global ad revenue, adding $44.5 billion to their totals in 2024 (excluding U.S. political spending) — nearly 1.5 times the cumulative $27.4 billion in incremental revenue for all other markets combined.

Pralhad Joshi takes charge of Union Food and Consumer Affairs Ministry

Under PM Narendra Modi’s third term, the BJP leader from Karnataka- Pralhad Joshi has taken charge of the Union Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, replacing senior BJP leader Piyush Goyal.

IBDF requests MIB to extend compliance period by 45 days for 'self-declaration certificate'

In its letter to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) over the 'self-declaration certificate' (SDC), the Indian Broadcasting and Digital Foundation (IDBF) has raised various challenges and concerns, including the tight deadline for seeking compliance from advertisers starting 18th June. Highlighting how such an implementation of the said order without engaging with the stakeholders and addressing their concerns would defeat the spirit and purport of the said order, it has urged the MIB to extend the compliance period by 45 days.
